GYS was founded by Mitchell Borden, the original founder of legendary Jazz clubs Smalls and Fat Cat in NYC, and Rie Yamaguchi-Borden, Jazz musician.

Mitchell and Rie have dedicated their lives to the Jazz community since the 90’s.

They have recognized the dire needs of Jazz musicians and have decided to remedy their vulnerable situation.
